# 8 DEREK SLAGHT

Spending 5 years with one team in junior hockey is quite rare these days, but the Norwich Merchants had one who spent his entire career in the Merchants red & white. Derek Slaght joined the team in the 2012/13 season as a 17 year old. At only 5 foot 9, Derek played like he was 7 foot tall, never afraid to stand up for himself or his teammates His puck-handling skills were quite evident from the get-go, as his dangling skills often terrorized opposing defenses before he shot the puck 7 feet wide – Just kidding Salty. Derek did manage to find the net quite often actually tallying 48 goals and 66 assists for 114 points in 160 career games plus 22 points in 43 playoff tilts. His dedication to Norwich will certainly be missed.

# 11  JORDAN GILLIS

If I asked you to locate Greely, Ontario on the map could you do it? It’d be like asking someone from Greely to find Norwich on the map. Thankfully the 2 communities are forever linked courtesy ofJordan Gillis. The Merchant forward spent parts of 4 seasons in the red & white joining mid-way through the 2013-14 season. He compiled 46 goals and 34 assists for 80 points in 109 career regular season games including a career high 38 points this season – a point per game pace. Jordan also add 11 points in 24 playoffs games. Never the loudest in the dressing he let his play do the talking as he developed into a true veteran player earing the "A" the past 2 seasons. The Norwich Merchants are grateful the young man from Greely found his way to Norwich – we thank you for your efforts over the years.

# 17 RAY MUNRO

Beginning his junior career with the Simcoe Storm, Ray Munro was acquired in a trade early in the 2015/16 season spending most of 2 years with the Merchants. It’s safe to say now with his junior career over that Norwich won this trade. Ray’s offensive prowess was a sight to see. He registered 25 goals and 45 assists for 70 points in only 67 regular season games including a team high 46 points this year. His passion for the sport was an admiration for all in our organization to witness and we hope that has rubbed off on our younger players. Ray proudly represented our team as an assistant captain this past season and we are thrilled he's been apart of our Merchants family the past 2 seasons.
